 WAM's The Block!
« Thread Started on Jul 23, 2006, 2:05am »

WAM, has been playing for a long while, a single anime in their teenage creation the block. Among live action shows such as The Tribe and Planet XYZ, one can also find a small selection of Anime.

This channel seems to have one thing it likes to do, replay each series 5 or 6 thousand times before they move on. Recently however they have moved from the nromal line up of Street Fighter II and Vandread, to a new set of shows. Mirage of Blaze, and Gokusen!

Mirage of Blaze appears to be a show about people who are possessed by ancient spirits and powers they haven;t a clue about. The show seems like something out of CLAMP at first, like X/1999, but once you watch it you find out it's much more fun. Quite a bite of comedy is right there for the grabbing. And I quote:

*both are surrounded by samurai zombies with swords, that they can't seem to kill!*
[Samurais] *moan and swing swords at*
[Guy] *falls over close to girl*
[Girl] AHHH!
[Guy] WHAT?! *looks around frantically for attacks!*
[Girl] It's not fair! *points finger in his face* You're good looking close up!
[Guy] ARGH! Don;t scare me like that you idiot!

Quite amusing.

Also, can't forget Gokusen. This show seems offbeat, but hey, it's anime. From what I've seen (a total of one episode) there's a lovely gym teacher in charge of a bunch of hooligans. She's helped by an older, much bustier teacher, and a dog who appears to be her sensei. The boys all leave nothign to the imagination. They're rude, crude, and generally idiots for girls. The show is comedic in many ways, but rather touching at points. I think I'll be fangirlling over it soon enough.

So head on over to WAM's The Block, and catch the shows! I'm not sure of the timing, but the Block plays twice a day. I believe (but don't quote me) 10:00am and pm may be the times.
